Did you know...

It has been found that some invertebrates have very similar physiological and neurochemical responses to stimuli that would be expected to cause pain to those of vertebrates. Opioids are substances that mimic the effects of opium in the brain, and include peptide molecules such as enkephalins and endorphins.
- Cephalopod and Decapod Crustaceans, their Capacity to experience Pain and suffering. (Advocates for Animals) 2005

Box jellyfish have four brains, with six eyes at each brain.  the eyes are highly complex. However, one of the 24 eyes is pointed upwards and can see above, and another is pointed below, to see down.  They can recognise black but not white, and red worries them.  They will swim into a white pole, swim round a black pole, but keep well away from a red pole (all this was researched by keeping the poor things in a tank!)
Their sting can kill in seconds, and the tiniest touch from a tentacle on humans can cause terrible pain within hours.
